Yup, he is in. He kicks off his tour on Wednesday working the I-25 corridor.

This will really make the primary interesting for the US Senate. We can only hope that the Democrat primary be bloody!

Hmm… so after scanning our friends at Complete Colorado I noticed that there was an article linked titled “Markey bails on last two health-care meetings”. It peaked my interest and I was shocked to confirm that Betsy Markey, D-CD4, decided that her constituents were not important enough, regardless of where they stand on the death care issue, to speak to their congressional representative. In place of the congresswoman who is the congressional voting member, she sends her staff — who are, of course, non-voting members. But it’s ok, they will pass along your thoughts to her. Really. They promise. — Yeah right.

What perplexes me is that ol’ Betsy is a freshman member of Congress and has already decided that the voters don’t matter despite the fact she will have strong Republican challengers like Cory Gardner and Tom Lucero . You would think that she would do everything that she can to remain in good standing with her constituents. Clearly, based on the bailing on the last two health care forums, and how she handled the ones that she did do, she does not care for the voters of CD4.

So, I propose that the voters of CD4 turn up the heat on Congresswoman Markey. Since she doesn’t have the courage to confront the voters that she represents then perhaps the voters need to confront her on not only health care reform but also on her lack of consideration.

Editorial: On this Labor Day

Ironically, work is probably the last thing the American people want to think about on Labor Day. They’d much rather devote their time and energy to the backyard barbecue, the last beach trip of 2009, or, perhaps a pickup football game in the local school yard.
As well they should.

But now might be the best time to for all of us across the fruited plains to remind ourselves anew of just why “a fair day’s pay for a good day’s work” is so important for our future and our past—and how it’s being undermined at the highest levels of government.

Work, quite simply, is the ability to get up and make a life for yourself. As an American, you have the right to work for yourself and for the ones you love. And no one else has the right to “wring their bread from the sweat of your brow.”

It was that fierce individualism, the “can-do” pull-yourself-up-by-your-own-bootstraps attitude that built America out of nothing and catapulted the nation and its citizens to a level of wellbeing never before thought possible.

As American history has proven time and again, to build a prosperous and fruitful life, all one needs is a healthy dose of self-motivation and a free nation in which to exercise that motivation.
The current administration, however, begs to differ. In their eyes, nothing can—or should—happen without government’s consent or even ordination. This is, perhaps, most evident when they speak about their ostensible solution or the recession and unemployment.

They believe government alone can create jobs out of thin air—like a magician pulling a rabbit out of its hat. But the truth is: government doesn’t “create jobs.” And it never will. Small business owners create jobs. Large business owners create jobs. Individuals create their own jobs. Government simply “makes work.”
Moreover, as American’s for Limited Government Chairman Howard Rich points out a recent column, there is a shocking disconnect between public sector pay and private sector pay in the United States. As he says:

“According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ recently published study for 2007, in California, which is still trying to climb out of its oppressive $26 billion deficit, average annual income for state employees was $56,777 versus $49,935 for the private sector, a 14 percent gap. In Illinois, a similar story emerges: $53,925 for state workers, and $48,006 for the private sector, an 11 percent split. New Jersey: $57,845 average state salary, $53,590 for private sector workers, at an 8 percent difference…

“Nationally, the story is even worse. Federal workers made on average $64,871 in 2007, with private sector workers making a meager $44,362, so public sector wages in the federal system are 46 percent higher.”

Something is amiss when those in government (individuals who produce nothing more than rules, regulation, red tape, and higher taxes) are “rewarded” more than those in private enterprise who truly produce the wealth of the nation. It is a sign of the times—and the leadership.

So on this Labor Day, take a minute to remember what makes America unique—and, yes, exceptional. It is the hard worker, not the bureaucrat. It is the taxpayer, not the tax collector. And it is the people, not the government.

It has never been government. It has never been bureaucracy. And it has not been the halls of America’s Congress but rather the shelves of America’s stores, the fields of America’s farms, and the students of America’s schools that have made America great.

As summer comes to a close, America’s workers—men, women, the old, and young—ought to pat themselves on the back and appreciate the fact that they are the backbone of this strong—and still magnificent—nation. May their numbers multiply.

As has been scarcely covered in the general media, President Obama (ugh) is on a mission, much like that of Mao, to speak to the youth in order to recruit them to carry on the work of maobamaism — the hydrid variation of communism, socialism, and fascism. Yes, this is Obama’s Cultural Revolution.

For historical purposes, let us revisit the past. During the latter 50′s through the 60′s the youth of China were targeted by Mao and the Gang of Four to carry out a mission of smashing the old traditions to bring China into a word anew. Rebellion against text books, things green (flowers, trees, grass, etc.), you name it simply because they said so. They were forced to give up their freedom and drafted to militaristic service to lead this revolution using political propaganda to instill fear in the hearts of many Chinese, including their own parents. Also, it was the formation of the strict and horrific practice of population control methods and forced abortions for the Chinese One Child policy.

Flash forward forty years and what do we encounter, MaObama doing the same thing with his Gang of Four – Reid, Pelosi, Axelrod, and Emmanuel. Chairman MaObama is scheduled to address school children while they are at school tomorrow. There are several components that I find quite interesting:

However, all is not lost and the MaObama Cultural Revolution is meeting some resistance. Parents are pulling their children out of school, pressuring school administration to not participate, and so on. There is a revolution. It is a counter-revolution that is carrying the banner of freedom. The patriots are fighting back and the war for the American soul is on.

Message to Bill, thanks for looking out for us. Nothing like another Harvard elite telling us how to farm. The man probably doesn’t even have dirt under his nails and the closest thing to farming he may know is the farmer’s tan that he gets when visiting the Vineyard.

Editorial: Farmers and Cattlemen Need to Stand Against Sunstein

When the Senate returns to business next month, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has already announced that one of the first orders of business will be to try to ram through the nomination of Cass Sunstein for the nation’s “Regulatory Czar.” Earlier this month, Senate Republicans had blocked a unanimous consent resolution to approve Sunstein. And with good reason.

But for their efforts, Sunstein would have been confirmed without any roll call. Now, it will require 60 votes to invoke cloture on the nominee. Sunstein was nominated in April to be Administrator of the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs in the White House Office of Management and Budget. It has been dubbed the “Regulatory Czar” since all major regulatory actions by the federal government are subject to review by this office.

In short, it is an extremely powerful position.

Which is why yesterday Americans for Limited Government President Bill Wilson sent a letter to farm bureau chiefs nationwide warning them of the nomination of the radical Sunstein. “What concerns me and I am sure will concern you,” wrote Wilson, “is Mr. Sunstein’s extreme positions on animal rights. If put into law or regulation, these radical stands will destroy agriculture and threaten America’s ability to feed itself much less do any exporting of agricultural products.”

The trouble is that Sunstein favors granting legal rights to animals. In 2002 he wrote in “The Rights of Animals: A Very Short Primer,” “We could even grant animals a right to bring suit without insisting that animals are persons, or that they are not property.”

Sunstein also supported “further regulation” against hunting, animal testing and farming. “We should focus attention not only on the ‘enforcement gap,’ but on the areas where current law offers little or no protection. In short, the law should impose further regulation on hunting, scientific experiments, entertainment, and (above all) farming to ensure against unnecessary animal suffering.”

In Sunstein’s dangerously detached worldview, money-hungry trial lawyers coul sue on behalf of every Polled Hereford in the land. And , everyone knows, they would. Clarabelle Cow could sue Ronald McDonald.

Only the U.S. Senate can stop Sunstein. But they will only do so if the nation’s farmers and cattle ranchers stand against in. In short, a vote for Sunstein is a vote against agriculture, which could be drowned in years if not decades of litigation if Sunstein has his way.

Sunstein is a menace who even opposes animal testing, which as Wilson noted, “is a critical practice to testing the safety—for humans—of everything from drugs to make up to space exploration has saved countless millions of human lives.” And yet Sunstein would end it altogether.

The American people have a right to choose what to eat, whether it be meat or produce. But if Sunstein’s extremist views find their way into federal regulations, that right could disappear in the blink of a bureaucrat’s eye. Barack Obama’s radical appointment is greatly alarming. It is up to the Senate to stand in the way, and for farmers and cattlemen nationwide to raise the outcry against him.
